Actor Sri Krishna Shrestha who did over 100 films of others has come to realise that promoting and selling a film are more difficult than doing and making a film. He realised this while preparing to release his first home product - Kaha Bhetiyala."I have now realised that making or acting in a film is easier than promoting it," Shrestha said. "As an actor you create a film on the basis of the character; as a filmmaker you manage the money, manpower and equipment; but when you want to release it to the public, you have to depend on the hall owners, and the halls do not belong to you."The experiences of actor Sri Krishna reveal the difficulties that a filmmaker faces while releasing his films. When a popular actor like Shrestha finds it difficult to sell his home product, one can easily realise the situation of the general filmmakers. Many of the filmmakers cannot release their films even five years after their making."Now I am one in all - an actor, maker and seller - of Kaha Bhetiyala, and I am busy arranging the halls for its release in Kathmandu from July 24," Shrestha said.Shrestha is to release his film across the country a week after its release in Kathmandu.Shrestha who has acted in over 100 films terms his first home product as a musical love story. He also says that as a man dedicated to a career in films, he has to be a director or producer in order to sustain in the field. In Nepal, old actors hardly get roles in films. So, he chose to be a producer and made Kaha Bhetiyala on a story which he himself wrote on the basis of what he saw on the highway hotels while travelling outside the valley as a crew member of several film units."It is my attempt to bring the men (and women) who are heading on the wrong path to the right track," he said. Most of the films that Sri Krishna Shrestha did in the past became box-office hits. His Afanta, Afno Manchhe, Eh Mero Hajur and Hami Tin Bhai were hits in the years they were released. Also almost all the films Sri Krishna did have been directed by Shiva Regmi, a highly successful director.Indeed, Shrestha did not act only in three films - Manish, Upahar and Ek Phera Hansi Deuna - of Shiva Regmi. In other films they are always together."I find it comfortable to do his film," he said. However, he does not have actresses like Niruta Singh, Jala Shah and Bipana Thapa in this venture - actresses who accompanied him in his previous films. This time he has Sweta Khadka, a totally new face, to replace his all-time actresses. But how is his film? The audiences will have to wait till July 24 to find the answer.Actor cum producer Shrestha simply says that it is close to reality and free from dramatised events and actions.
